For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a lawyer. Unlike many people who explore different career paths, I never imagined doing anything else. Every aspect of law fascinated me from a young age, and that passion has remained the driving force behind my career for more than two decades.
My legal journey began in Sri Lanka, where I completed my Bachelor of Laws at the University of Colombo. In the early 2000s, I migrated to Australia in pursuit of new opportunities and a better future. Having experienced the challenges of starting life in a new country firsthand, I understand the determination, resilience and courage required to build a successful life away from home. This personal experience has given me a deep appreciation for the diverse backgrounds and unique circumstances of the clients I serve.
After settling in Australia, I continued my legal education and completed my legal studies at Deakin University. My passion for helping migrants and families led me to establish Oceylan Consulting, initially providing migration consultancy services to individuals and families navigating Australia’s migration system. As the needs of my clients grew, so did the services I offered, expanding into conveyancing and other legal areas.
In 2017, I was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. After obtaining my unrestricted practising certificate, I founded Eminent Lawyers in 2021 with a vision of creating a law firm that combines professional excellence with genuine care for its clients.
With more than 20 years of combined legal and consulting experience, I remain deeply committed to serving the community. Throughout my career, I have actively supported individuals, families, and businesses through some of the most important and challenging moments of their lives.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is the relationships I build with clients. Many clients first engage my services for a specific legal matter, however over time those professional relationships have developed into long-term trusted partnerships. I take pride in continuing to support clients through different stages of their lives.
I believe that effective legal representation is about more than technical expertise. It is about listening, understanding, communicating clearly, and genuinely caring about the outcome. My goal is to ensure that every client feels supported, informed and confident throughout their legal journey.
Outside of my legal practice, I am a proud mother to my daughter, who continues to inspire me both personally and professionally. Balancing family life with a growing legal practice has strengthened my understanding of the challenges many of my clients face as they navigate important family, financial, and life decisions.
I am passionate about giving back to the community and supporting individuals & families through significant milestones and challenges. I believe in building lasting relationships with my clients, founded on trust, understanding and genuine care.
